Chandertal Lake Trek for 12 days
DAY 01
DELHI / MANALI Arrive Manali by air or surface and transfer to the hotel for overnight stay.
DAY 02
MANALI / DARCHA After early breakfast, drive to Darcha in the Lahaul valley, passport checking enroute at Koksar. The distance is 140 km (87 miles) and the altitude is 3340 m (11,000 feet). We also cross the Rothang pass at an altitude of 3980 m (13,100 feet). Overnight camp at Darcha.
DAY 03
DARCHA / PATSEA Early breakfast and start the trek to Pelseao along the left side of the river. Petseao is a nice alpine camping ground.
Trek time : 5 hours
DAY 04
PETSEA / SURAJTAL 4700 m ( 15,400 feet). Surajtal means the moon lake, this is the source of Bhaga river, which we have been following from Darcha.
Trek time : 6 hours
DAY 05
We will stay this night at the Surajtal Lake. Those interested may make a visit to the Baralacha at 4960 m (16,300 feet) to view the Lingti valley of Ladakh and many more peaks overnight in camp.
DAY 06
SURAJTAL / TOKPOYONGMA From Baralacha three rivers originate and three valleys can be seen, we will now follow the Chandra river down the trek.
Trek time : 6 hours
DAY 07
TOKPOYONGMA / TOKPOYONGMA 4320 m (14,200 feet). It is a short trek but due to the high water in the stream you can not go faster, nice view of high mountains and glaciers. Overnight in camp.
Trek time : 6 hours
DAY 08
TOKPOGONGMA / CHANDERTAL 4270 m (14,000 feet). This trekking part is the best on the whole trail, one side is glacier and the other side is rocky.
Trek time : 7 hours
DAY 09
Today we rest, those interested may swim in the lake or try their hand at the lake route. Those still interested in trekking may make a day return trip to the nearby peaks and view the Spiti valley.
DAY 10
CHANDERTAL / BATAL 3960 m (13,000 feet). The trek is very small and down hill, Batal is the road head.
Trek time : 4 hours
DAY 11
BATAL / MANALI After breakfast take the transport to Manali. Overnight in the hotel.
DAY 12
MANALI / DELHI Depart Manali by air or surface for Delhi.
Trekking Season: 15 JUNE to 30 SEPTEMBER
